We’re the

Lundin Family

Using the land

We moved here to “LundinCroft” in 2012. We started out by renting the home and 10 acres, with the hopes of buying it eventually. The house hadn’t been lived in for about 5 years, but we were so excited anyway to start fixing it up and using the land! So many trails, a huge yard, wildlife, a big field in front, and a 100’ x 100’ fenced garden! We knew this amazing property would need a name, so after a few summers we settled on LundinCroft. A “croft” is a small rented field, farm or piece of land, so it fit our new home perfectly!

We got to gardening in that big, beautiful garden space those first years with high hopes of an abundance of vegetables comes harvest time…. mostly to have weeds out-grow and swallow up any little tender plants we tried to grow! Lots of gardening failures those first years! Slowly, we learned how to garden and grow things here in our Northern MN climate, how to control weeds - without the use of chemicals! - and how to plan a successful crop!

Everything we grow here is “field grown”, meaning we don’t have any high tunnels or greenhouses! We start some difficult seeds under lights in late winter, but almost eveything is sown directly into the dirt!

Our first pumpkins on trailer

The Roadside Stand

The fun began when “Grandpa” retired and asked our two oldest kids if they would like to grow a few pumpkins with him for fun and see if they would sell! We filled a trailer at the end of our driveway with the pumpkins later that fall, and sure enough - they sold! The next few years we grew more and more pumpkins, and added fresh-cut flower bouquets to our roadside stand. We have grown our offerings and varieties each year and haven’t looked back once! We still use our roadside stand to sell most of our goods, along with a flower subscription and occasional markets in the summer!
